Meet Dr. Shadie Azar
Dr. Shadie Azar has joined Dr. Thomas J. Kepic’s periodontal and dental implant practice in Upland, CA. Dr. Azar earned his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree from Nova Southeastern College of Dental Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He then furthered his education and experience with a two-year general practice residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. Dr. Azar completed a three-year specialty education program in periodontics at Dr. Kepic’s alma mater, Indiana University of School of Dentistry in Indianapolis. In his general practice residency and periodontal graduate programs, Dr. Azar finished as chief resident.
In addition to these accomplishments, Dr. Azar has won numerous awards, including:
- The Henry M. Swenson award given by Indiana University for Excellence and Scholarship in Periodontology.
- The Brady Hancock Resident award given by Indiana University for Excellence in Professionalism in Graduate Periodontology.
- The Carol A. Walters Pre-Doctoral Teaching Award given by Indiana University for Excellence in Scholarship in Periodontology.
- The Terry Tanaka Student Humanitarian Award given by NOVA Southeastern College of Dental Medicine in recognition of volunteer service.
Asked about his new partnership, Dr. Azar said he is delighted to work with Dr. Kepic. “I have long been very impressed with Dr. Kepic’s outstanding clinical reputation. He is also highly regarded by his colleagues as a teacher and a leader. It will be a great pleasure to work with him and treat patients in the practice.”
Dr. Kepic explained that he considered over 20 candidates before entering into a partnership with Dr. Azar. “I wanted to find someone with not only outstanding credentials, but a truly dedicated professional who shares my values of putting patients first. I could not have found a better partner than Dr. Azar. He will be a great asset to the practice and the dental community.”
Dr. Haroon is married to Dr. Shadie Azar. They are the only husband and wife periodontist team practicing in San Bernardino county.
